Ramune Rocket 3 To Play International Pop Overthrow Festival
Headlining the Final Night
Ramune Rocket 3, a Portland-based band will be playing at the International Pop Overthrow Festival this week. The band has been compared to Blondie, the Pixies, Stone Roses, and Firehose 1d13 . “I think it's really great when people think we sound like a band that they love.” Says lead singer and guitarist, Ramune.
Their music is characterized by electric guitar with a wide range of effects, meaty bass lines, high energy drums, and pretty vocals. The songs are fun and cheerful on the surface, but the lyrics have deeper meaning, tell stories, reflect on societal issues, and touch on themes of inner conflict, paradoxical emotions, and difficult choices. Influences include early Radiohead, The Shins, Vampire Weekend, Regina Spektor, My Bloody Valentine, Pink Floyd, the Black Keys, and Veruca Salt.
On August 18, the band will be headlining on the final night of the International Pop Overthrow Festival. The International Pop Overthrow features between 25-180 of the best pop bands from around the world. The festival travels all over the world featuring local bands in each city. It is a four-day festival taking place during the evenings of Aug 15-18 at the Mt Tabor Theatre Lounge.
