Mississippi Studios was on fire last night in Portland as three bands took the stage for a fun evening of tunes.

2000

The show kicked off in a fury with Omaha-based rock band Icky Blossoms. They were the perfect start to the evening providing visceral and raw rock all while getting the audience on their feet and gyrating to the sultry lead vocals of Sarah Bohling. The energy was palpable both on and off the stage as heavy guitar riffs and steady percussion rocked the room.

Next on stage was co-headliner Reptar out of Georgia. The band infuses synth heavy futuristic sounds with a post punk rock base. Long synth solos were broken up by explosive moments of pure rock that got the audience jumping into the air.

Ending the night was up and coming band Rubblebucket out of Brooklyn, NY. The band provided a catchy pop sound with a uniquely indie feel. The vocals of Kalmia Traver were reminiscent of singers like Bjork and the horn section led by Alex Toth helped lead the pure fun of the performance. Fake robots, oversized prop clocks dangling from Kalmia’s neck and coordinated dance moves were just a few of the things that helped create a fun and entertaining end to the evening.
