Three female musicians emerge from popular Portland bands to bring you their original music. Swansea combine elements of rock, cinematic drama and jazz with highly narrative lyrical content reminiscent of contemporaries Kate Bush, Laura Marling, fellow Portlanders Sallie Ford & The Sound Outside and Rebecca Gates & The Consortium whom they toured with in support of their album Old Blood’s release in May.
Members: Patti King, Kyleen King, Dave Jones, Willem Joersz, Todd Bayles, Ashia Grzesik
With songs as unpredictable and violent as a shipwreck, or as vulnerable as the apology after a lover's fight, Patti King sings from deep within her heart. Accompanied by a backing band complete with drums, bass, accordion, and strings, Patti's songs are engrossing and intensely emotional. She gives a fearless vocal performance to every audience which leaves no one behind.
Kelly Anne Masigat is a Portland-based multi-instrumentalist who has been known to hush even the loudest of rooms. Having spent the majority of her musical life painfully shy and in the background of various projects, she has grown to be an elegantly understated performer. She blends delicate, coal-fired vocals with the clangs of a gritty guitar. Her songs are love-sick without being overly sentimental; executed with an often "outside of the box" musicality.
