The Long Road Home for Fish & Bird
Canadian Tour Coming to an End in Portland
Fish & Bird packed up the veggie-oil van and left the west coast in May 2012 on a tour of epic proportions. After six months criss-crossing Canada to countless shows, several festivals and not very many gas stations, Fish & Bird are finally coming back to the west. Welcome them back to the wes 1b0c t in style!
Fish & Bird are Canada's alt-folk force to be reckoned with, and their critically acclaimed album, Every Whisper is a Shout Across the Void, has brought the band much recognition across Canada, and into the US and UK, garnering loads of positive reviews and radio play. The band pushes just the right amount of alternative music into their folk base, creating a sound all their own that's both indie and traditional. It's clean and complex, provocative and harmonious. It was the top most played album on the Galaxie Folk/Roots Radio channel for 2011 and was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award (Roots Group Recording) in both 2011 and 2012.
2013 will see the band travel to the UK for their first overseas tour, and Fish & Bird are working on scheduling their next studio session, for a new album to be released in 2013. Their widely acclaimed 2011 release Every Whisper is a Shout Across the Void, has been honored with two nominations (2011 and 2012) at the Western Canadian Music Awards, and this year has held such highlights as Winnipeg Folk Festival, Folk on the Rocks, an opening slot at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom, and the band's first set of US shows.
