The Vaccines released their anticipated sophomore album, The Vaccines Come Of Age, in the UK last week debuting at #1! The band’s standout follow-up LP will be out stateside October 2nd on Columbia Records. The band recently completed a handful of U.S. tour dates, in which, they stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform their single “Teenage Icon.”

The Vaccines Come Of Age was recorded at ICP studios in Brussels and Distiller in Bath. The band worked with producer Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon, Laura Marling) to capture a more intimate sound by recording everything live to track. The new album has 11 glowing songs that showcase a matured band that has rightfully and rapidly completed their rite of passage.

The U.S. got their first taste of the British guitar-rock act’s power packed tunes in early 2011.  The Vaccines were instantly embraced stateside; after only a handful of breakout shows at SXSW, the band was featured on the pages of Spin as a “Breaking Out” act and by Paste as the “Best of What’s Next.” Rolling Stone identified The Vaccines as a “Band to Watch,” depicting them as “four enterprising punk-rockers from London with a proudly poppish sensibility.”

So far no US tour dates have been announced, but with the huge fans waiting, its inevitable that they'll be back for more. Check out bePortland’s coverage from last year’s show in at The Crystal Ballroom.
