TEED @Doug Fir

with RAC

The disco ball was turning, and the bass of electronic music was peculating through the lounge. The atmosphere of Doug Fir was different tonight…way different. Because tonight…people were ready to dance.

RAC, also known as Andrea Allen Anjos & Andrew 2000 Maury, was first up, warming up the crowd with great mixes and an awesome set of mixed electronic music samples and club music. However, the mixing was not your typical club sounding music. The music selection really fit the scene at the Doug Fir playing laid-back yet poppy dance music that made it hard not to groove. RAC put on a great set, and it really warmed up the crowd for the much-anticipated headliner tonight.

TEED (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs) is by far one of my favorite UK electronic DJs right now. Orlando Higginbottom, has been experimenting with electronic music since the age of eleven and has really developed an incredible sound.  Tonight, he played songs from his debut album, Trouble, which was released on June 11, 2012. The crowd was getting silly off every track that he was throwing down. When American Dream Part II, a crowd favorite, the fans got tribal, grooving to the beats and going nuts over the bass. Blowup dinosaurs were being tossed up & down in the air, a sign that these fans were ready to get their dance on. During his set, Orlando repeatedly shot off confetti into the crowd. It was an awesome way to bring a party atmosphere to the lounge and get groovy to his beats.

After the show, I had the privilege to get a chance to hang out with the young artist. Orlando’s next show is in San Francisco, and he is really excited to be back in California, a place where he plans on living in the future. He is currently on tour throughout the states with his next show at the music venue, The Independent, on August 8. This will definitely go in the books for me as one my favorite shows, and I wish him the best with his career and spreading the wonderful sounds of UK garage to America.
