Ghost to Falco and Wooden Indian Burial Ground played at Bunk Bar Tuesday night. It was a night full of local music and friends.  I arrived early enough to hang out a bit before the show started and could see that both bands were frien 2000 ds and had invited many of their own friends. It is always good to see support for friends and local music.  A little bit after sound check Wooden Indian Burial Ground started their set.

Wooden Indian Burial Ground is a Portland native and started as a duo in 2008. Their first album was “My Bones They Are Naked,” an eleven track album, which came out in 2008. They band as expanded since then containing three members: Justin D. Fowler - fuzz guitar, vocals, and various instruments, Daniel P. Galucki – drums, Perry Pfister - bass.  They have a two song, 16 minute/45 rpm/10” entitled “Sunbeams and the Cosmic Ascent to Nowheresville” which is now available, and a full length LP will be released summer 2012.  The crowd took a minute to warm up but finally the crowd gathered round. The sound was a bit folky with electronic sounds. Some songs included singing which consisted of words and sounds. The beat though, on most songs, got the crowd dancing.  They had a good stage presence and you could see their passion for the music they produced. They were so into it that the drummer even busted his snare drum during the performance. Ghost to Falco’s drummer, of course, lent his for the rest of their set. The crowd seemed to really enjoy their performance considering they received loud applause and cheers.

Ghost to Falco were up next after a brief intermission while they switched out gear. They are also from Portland and were founded by>Eric Crespo.  Sometimes the band is just Eric and sometimes more musicians join him, which was the case Tuesday night.  The band has toured all over the USA and Europe since 2001. Ghost of Falco have produced numerous albums and compilations since the band started, one of the more recent being “Exotic Believers.” This album took many months to record and consists of over thirty contributors.

The night was a success, the audience seemed to have had a great time listening to the bands, socializing with friends, eating, and drinking.
