Best Butcher Regional Finals to Be Held In Portland
At Whole Foods Market In the Pearl District
On Saturday, July 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. , Portland will host the Best Butcher Regional Finals at the Pearl District Whole Foods Market. The company’s top butchers from Northern California, Southern California and the Pacific Northwest have battled it out and each region’s champ will arrive in Portland ready to pu 1b4e t their cleavers and expertise to the test.
The Pacific Northwest finalist, Nate Hornbeak, is from one of the Whole Foods Market stores right here in Portland. In true Iron Chef fashion, the product they will carve will not be revealed until the start of the competition. Then it all comes down presentation, workmanship and efficiency. The winner of the day’s events will go on to compete in the global competition in New York City in September.
In conjunction with the Best Butcher contest, the two blocks in front of the Whole Foods Market store will be closed for a block party featuring additional chef demos in partnership with FEAST Portland as well as urban homesteading classes including lectures on cheese making and raising chickens. The celebration will also feature a beer garden, food tent, a variety of vendor booths and live music from local bands.
