Inaugural Gastro Brew Sessions
Hosted by Thirsty Lion Brew Pub and Widmer Brothers
On Tuesday, August 21st, 2012, Thirsty Lion Pub & Grill in beloved Old Town will host the Widmer Brothers for the inaugural Gastro Brew Sessions. Thirsty Lion’s Executive Chef Keith Castro and the brewers behind Widmer Brothers have collaborated 1d40 to create a dynamic six-course menu of gastropub cuisine, with recommended beer pairings – or mix and match to create your own favorite combo.
Guests are invited to move through the restaurant in an interactive and social setting while experiencing four food and beer stations. The first recommended offering is a Widmer Citra Blonde paired with Citrus Marinated Mahi Mahi Ceviche Taco. Other pairings include a Hefeweizen with Beer Steamed Shellfish with Prawns, Clams, & Mussels and an Oatmeal Porter with Beer BBQ Pulled Pork Sliders with Crumbled Gorgonzola. Think you’d prefer porter with your prawns? Open stations allow guests to create their own pairing combinations.
Brewmaster Doug Rehberg from Widmer Brothers will talk about the featured beers and their histories and ingredients, followed by Chef Castro who will describe the food pairings and how they work with the beer. Each guest will be given a keepsake glass chalice—and one lucky winner with the winning sticker on the bottom of their glass will be awarded a Home Brewing Kit on behalf of Widmer Brothers.
