New Seasons Market Hosts Free Cooking Demo Chef, Author Cindy Pawlcyn

Award winning Chef Cindy Pawlcyn, known for putting Napa Valley on the map as much for its food as for its wine will offer a free cooking demonstration at New Seasons Market’s Happy Valley Cooking School, 15861 SE Happy Valley Town Center Dr., from 3:30-4:15 p.m., Friday, J 2000 une 29. A meet and greet, and cookbook signing will immediately follow the cooking event.

 

Chef Pawlcyn, the culinary energy behind three beloved restaurants – Mustards Grill, Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen and Brassica Mediterranean Kitchen & Wine Bar – will be in town to introduce home cooks to her fifth cookbook, Cindy’s Supper Club: Meals from Around the World to Share with Family and Friends (Ten Speed Press). This new cookbook is based on her biweekly Supper Club menus served at Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen and filled with 25 international menus and more than 125 recipes from the world’s greatest food destinations, including Hawaii, Brazil, Sweden, Italy, Morocco and Thailand.

 

At New Seasons’ cooking demo, Chef Pawlcyn will show how to prepare a Oaxacan-inspired recipe for Halibut with a Tomato, Habanero and Citrus Salsa. Participants will enjoy a taste of this delicious dish, take home recipes, a shopping list, and a coupon for 10 percent off their next New Seasons Market purchase. Cindy will sign copies of Cindy’s Supper Club directly following the demo.

A pioneer in her field, Pawlcyn has a devoted local and national following and has been acknowledged by many top culinary organizations and magazines. An inductee of Who’s Who of Cooking in America, she has also been twice nominated for the James Beard Foundation award for Best Chef in California. Pawlcyn participated in the first season of Bravo TV’s Top Chef Masters. She has authored four other cookbooks: The James Beard Award winning Mustards Grill Napa Valley Cookbook; Fog City Diner Cookbook; Big Small Plates; and Cindy Pawlcyn’s Appetizers.
