To encourage Oregonians to protect and support Oregon wetlands, Whole Foods Markets donated 5% of their gross sales to The Wetlands Conservancy (TWC) for their annual Community Support Day on Wednesday, June 27th.

Select Portland Whole Foods Markets raised $10,245.30 for The Wetlands Conservancy with an additional $876.20 raised from the Bridgeport Whole Foods Market’s Dime for a Difference Program.

“We’re 1a81 honored that Whole Foods selected our organization, and believes in the work we do throughout the state,” said TWC Executive Director Esther Lev. “Their contribution will support our work protecting and conserving Oregon’s greatest wetlands.” Three times a year, individual Whole Foods Markets donate 5% of that day’s sales to a local or regional non-profit or educational organization.

The Wetlands Conservancy is an Oregon non-profit that has been protecting and conserving wetlands throughout the state for more than 30 years, and has been working with local restaurants, markets and individual vendors to create a link between the importance of estuary health and sustainable seafood and agriculture.

Oregon’s wetlands are biologically rich and productive landscapes that store, clean and filter regional water sources – a key ingredient to quality food and drinks.
